She tried to relax, his hand resting on her hip, the other wrapped tightly over the place where her heart beat wildly. It embarrassed her a little to know that he could feel just how affected she was by this close proximity, but she fought her blush again. Instead, she focused on doing what he said, trying her hardest to move in tandem with him. She knew her efforts were clumsy.

Jim smiled softly, squeezing her hip beneath his hand. He pressed a soft kiss to the side of her head. He continued swaying to the music, nose buried in Pock's hair. He didn't care that she was a little bit clumsy, she'd figure it out. She was brilliant, graceful, and elegant. Sooner or later, she'd start moving easier, he had no doubt about that.

He buried his face in her hair, and she forced herself to breathe. She couldn't learn if she didn't breathe. She needed to learn this. She didn't want to embarrass herself in front of Jim just because she couldn't figure out how to dance.

She could do this.

Her foot caught, and she stumbled a bit, latching on to Jim to keep herself upright. She couldn't control the blush that flowed into her cheeks.

"I apologize," she said hastily.

Jim let out a huff of a laugh, holding her up. "You're doing great, Kitten," he said, smiling down at her. "Seriously, you should have seen me when I was learning how to dance. I tripped more times than I care to admit." His thumb rubbed at her hip, soothingly.

Pock blushed a little deeper. It was a light like color, ghosting over her cheekbones in embarrassment before she had a chance to will it away. Her heart thrummed even harder against its bone-and-marrow cage. She was a fool for ever attempting this, but now she had to see it through.

"Kitten?" she spluttered. "I assure you, Jim, I am no feline, though the evolutionary origins of the Vulcan species may have resembled such creatures." At his admission, she blushed a little deeper. "I doubt this very seriously. I thank you, however, for you effort in comforting me despite my mistake."

Jim chuckled slightly. The blush on her cheeks was a little too tempting, and he leaned down to kiss her. He pulled back slightly, and rested his forehead against hers. "It's a nickname," he said, voice soft. "Normally one given by a romantic partner."

His thumb was still rubbing soft circles on Pock's hip. "You're really doing fine. I promise."

Pock reciprocated the kiss lightly, and when he pulled away, she let out another slow breath. She was doing a ridiculous amount of controlled breaths tonight. It was indicative of exactly what effect Jim Kirk had on her.

His forehead rested against hers, and she smirked. "I see," she said. "In which case, though I do not understand the significance of such a moniker for a lover, I accept and respect this tradition of your people."

Pock liked the feeling of his thumbs rubbing against her in lazy rings. "I will accept your opinion as my instructor," she murmured. It didn't mean that she believed him, but she accepted that that was what he thought.

Personally, she thought he just liked the proximity.

"Good plan," Jim said. He resisted the urge to kiss the smirk right off her face. But just barely. He reveled in the fact that he was allowed to touch and look as much as he wanted.

He smiled slightly, giving into the urge and dropping a sweet kiss on her lips. "Thank you," he breathed, pulling her closer and starting to dance to the music again. "You'll get there."

She sighed into the kiss. She liked this: the way he kept kissing her, like it was the one thing he had missed most in his life, and now that he could do it, he couldn't stop. Not that she would admit that, of course, but it was nice.

"Perhaps," she said, smirking a little. "But even if I do not, I find I have thoroughly enjoyed my first lesson."

Jim pulled back a bit to get a better look at her face. He was beginning to think that he was a bit addicted to the way she tasted. "I'm glad you're enjoying this," he said, a small smirk playing his own lips. The hand that was over her heart came up to frame her face, playing with a strand that had come loose from the pony tail she had it in. The hand that was still over her hip continued to rub soothing circles.

Her eyes were warm as they met his.

"Indeed," she said softly. "Vulcans do not normally partake in tasks of this nature. I find it oddly relaxing when coupled with the right partner, however."

She could not imagine a better partner than the one she had.

Jim's eye brightened. The fact that she thought him the right partner to dance with... Well, his ego didn't need any more inflating.

He leaned back in for another kiss.

"For our relationship having just begun," she said, her voice affectionately teasing, "you have certainly become comfortable with physical affection frighteningly quickly."

Not that she was complaining, of course.

There was no logic to complaining about something she thoroughly enjoyed.

He smirked, knowing he was being teased and being completely okay with that. "So I might have thought about this a few times," he said. "Besides. I'm a very physical person."

He knew very well that she wasn't complaining. His thumb brushed over her cheekbone.

"I am flattered that you have contemplated the act of kissing me so thoroughly," she said, lifting her eyebrows slightly. A smirk played even more heavily at the corners of her mouth. "Does reality live up to your fantasy, Jim?"

Her eyes glinted with mischief, and her fingers began to play absentmindedly with his hair.

"Even better than I could have possibly hoped," he said, smirking down at her.

He suppressed a shiver as Pock began playing with his hair. "If you keep doing that," he informed, voice lower, "and there will be consequences."

Pock's eyebrows raised, and she chuckled lowly, her eyes suddenly darker and more mischievous than they'd ever been. She did not cease playing with his hair.

"Consequences?" she purred. A crooked smirk graced her features once more. "It would seem that I find myself undeterred by your warnings."

Jim's breathing hitched slightly at the look in her eyes and the fact that she refused to stop playing with his hair. He walked her backwards 'til her back was against a wall. "So it would seem," he said, just before his lips found hers. His kisses before were gentle and sweet. These were anything but.

Pock's heart quickened as he backed her against the wall, and she snaked her legs around his waist, leaving him to support her weight. She kissed him back with the same ferocity that he kissed her. It was like the violent ebb and flow of the tides in a storm, with the waves crashing rhythmically against the shore.

She held on to his shoulders with her hands, digging her nails into him. Not enough to hurt him, but just enough to make herself known.

Jim supported her weight easily, liking the change in the angle of their heads. He gave a little moan as her nails dug into his shoulders. He moved the hand that had been on her hips to her back, supporting her and kneading the muscles. "See?" he murmured between ferocious kisses. "Consequences." His hand other hand was back on the waist, also in a supporting roll.

In between kisses, she said breathily, "Still undeterred." She gasped slightly at the feel of him kneading the muscles of her back. It felt perfect, and she tightened her legs' grasp on him, pulling him impossibly closer. One of her hands moved back to his neck, resuming playing with the hair there. It was a good emphasis to her point, she thought.

Jim shuddered against her, never once letting her drop or feel insecure in his grasp. When she gasped, his tongue delved into her mouth, playing with her, teasing her.

Eventually he pulled back gasping for air. "We can't," he muttered. "Not right now." She meant way too much to him to have their first time together against a wall in his living room area.

Her chest heaved up and down as she struggled to regain her composure. Or at least, if her composure would not come, her breath.

When reason slowly returned to her, Pock nodded silently.

"We could," she corrected, "but we should not."

Jim set her back down on her feet gently. "We really shouldn't," he murmured in agreement, attempting to convince himself of the logic of it. He brushed the hair that had fallen back down into her eyes with their activities out of the way.

Pock stood. Her posture was tall, straight, and impeccable as always.

He brushed her hair away, and she met his eyes, not breaking their stares for anything. She communicated volumes just through her dark molasses eyes.

"You are right, of course," she said, clearing her throat. "It would be...improper, of us to do so."
